Hi everyone!

I am hoping to find an angel to help me and my gorgeous dog Socrates out. It's a big one ... I am moving back to Australia from Boston and want desperately to take my baby with me. However, all the quarantine places in Australia are filled up for the next 5-6 months. Since I can only legally (well, legally-esque - i think i'm already over my visa limitations) stay in america for another month, I cannot wait with him. So, I am hoping to find someone out there who loves animals and is willing to foster Socrates during the time it takes to secure him a spot in quarantine.

He is a beautiful fox terrier/beagle mix, with a truly old soul and the heart of an angel. He LOVES humans, and would bring so much love and affection to you. He's nearly 5, in good health, and I would of course provide a much remuneration as I possibly could, incl his food/vet bills.

It's a big ask, I know, but I have to try and believe that there is someone out there who may be able to help me and my beloved get through this. If you are interested, or know anyone who may be, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know asap!

Hoping and loving,
Lauren and Socrates
I found Dixie (an eight week old female beagle) last Monday on the side of the road... abandoned, hungry, sick... I couldn't leave her. I brought her to my vet and and have her being brought back to health there... but it's time to pick her up. I'm really kind of scared to introduce her to Indy (my 13 yr old female beagle). Indy has been the only four legged person in our house since she was a pup and she really isn't other-animal tolerant. In fact, she hates other dogs and you can just forget about cats....

We looked at a lot of dogs when there sat an old (I thought), overweight Beagle. In the pen next to him was an Austrailan Cattle Dog, which hubby wanted. We got Fred. He's been a slug mostly, but a loveable one, who knows that I rescued him from the big fire hydrant in the sky. Two days ago, he had surgery on his thigh to remove a softball -sized fatty cyst. He's wearing boxer shorts to keep from messing with the stitches and the drainage tube. He's a sweet dog, and I think this has made us appreciate him even more. Long live Fred, Dog of Valor!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheets with nonstick spray.

Measure oats into a medium bowl, top with pieces of margarine and the bouillon cubes. Pour in boiling water and let sit for 10 minutes or until margarine and bouillon are dissolved. Mix well, then add whole wheat flour, cornmeal, sugar, milk, eggs and cheese. Add enough of the all purpose flour to make the dough stiff. Mix well, using hands if necessary.

On floured surface, roll out the dough. The thinner the dough, the crispier the cookies will be. Use bone, cat, fire hydrant or any canine friendly cookie cutter you have to cut out cookies. Bake on prepared cookie sheets until hard and golden - 5 to 15 minutes depending on how thin the dough was rolled. Remove from cookie sheets and cool completely before serving.

Serves: MORE than enough to treat every dog in the neighborhood! Honestly!

Take Care...
